Our newly refurbished gents’ toilets in the Hall are now complete!
A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, skills or materials to make this possible.
Special thanks go to Mike Carlyle, who oversaw the work and gave up a huge amount of his time; Tim Carlyle, who carried out the plumbing; and Steve Godbold, who generously donated the ceiling and toilet cubicles.
We would also like thank the Millwood Trust for their generous donation to this project.
I think we can all agree they look fantastic! And look … no more messy hand towels! 💨
The Pavilion toilets are next on our improvement list—more details will follow when plans are confirmed.
What a fantastic day we had at Gladstone Village Hall for this year’s Dog Show and Summer Fete!
Despite the very warm weather, there was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the afternoon, with lots of wonderful dogs, families, friends and visitors enjoying everything on offer. From the dog show and fun activities to the stalls, raffle, tombola, BBQ, refreshments and bar, there was something for everyone.
A huge thank you must go to Mark and all the volunteers who worked so hard before, during and after the event. Days like this simply would not happen without people generously giving their time, energy and enthusiasm.
Thank you also to all our stallholders, prize donors, sponsors and everyone who supported the event. We were delighted to help raise awareness and funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) through the dog show organised by Classie Dog Grooming.
Finally, thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did — and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
Great events, good times and a wonderful community at GVH. 🐶☀️🎉
The Garden Girls of GVH, Arrived one morning, bright and gay, Armed with trowels, gloves and spades, And grand ideas for floral parades.
“We’ll make this border quite the sight!” Declared the team with pure delight. Though some dug straight and some dug wonky, And one hole looked fit for a donkey!
There was chatting, laughing, tea on tap, And frequent breaks for a little yap. A weed or two put up a fight, But stood no chance by lunchtime light.
Plants went in with loving care, Though not all ended where they’d planned, to be fair. A shuffle here, a move back there, Gardening’s art, not science, they swear!
Now outside GVH you’ll see, A border blooming beautifully. A splash of colour, a touch of class, And only a few plants planted in grass!
So if you pass, give a wave and grin, To the Garden Girls who pitched right in. They’ve made the hall look rather grand— With muddy boots and soil-stained hands! 🌼🌿🌸
What a brilliant night at Noel’s Wine Tasting Evening!
A huge thank you to Noel for guiding us through the wines with expert knowledge, questionable banter and just the right amount of encouragement to “try one more.”
It was a really fun evening, the glasses were definitely well used, and most importantly we raised money for Gladstone Village Hall.
Thanks to everyone who came along, supported the event, helped organise things, poured, cleared, laughed, tasted and pretended they could detect “notes of blackberry, oak and late summer hedgerow.”
A great village night — and proof that fundraising can be both sophisticated and slightly wobbly. 🍷😄
